Hello everyone, and welcome to our new players! This is our second Route 666 OOC Intro and Mingle post! We're also using this as our April Plotting Post!


APRIL EVENT

ACROSS THE THORN SCRUB

Hello Drifters and welcome to April’s plotting post! We’re taking a break from TDM and Apps this month to focus on a story event and unique location: the thorn brush wastelands, and the strange Tower that stretches towards the sky and takes up the scenery.

First off, we have unique properties from the Tower. As long as it is visible (and it will be visible all month) any wounds a Drifter takes will trigger transformations and trait activation! Drifters can either select from their own pre-selected traits, or they can choose from two event monsters with Chimera and Unicorn! Notably, Chimera monsters will have be able to incorporate these new changes, while Unicorns will be able to heal wounds and staunch any transformations.

The terrain is also going to be causing plenty of bleeding hazards, in the form of thorns, razor brush, and plenty of angry (and twisted) wildlife. Early in the month, there will also be an attack on the Convoy, in the form of cyborg hunters and raiders who are determined to cause death and damages... But who will also be carrying a smorgasbord of electronics, guns, and bullets to loot.

We’ll also be dealing with Moon Warps changing the scenery and making it chaotic, and eventually bringing the Tower down at the end of the month!

Character Name: Jolie Harmony
Canon: Odd Thomas, specifically the novella Odd Interlude
Character Info: A fourteen year old girl with issues with authority, trauma surrounding possession and mind control, and a strong affection for AIs.
Monster Plans: Jolie is fae! Specifically I am going for a fairy from the royal hunt, which is not like... small, winged, fairy dust kind of fairy but alien, ruthless, determined kind of fairy. I'm still working on her traits but definitely including plant communication, alien appearance, and eventually some kind of bark skin and antlers even if I have to steal them from other monster types.
Event Plans: No big plans yet, she's still kind of freaking out about all this and trying not to be upset that she's not going to see her family again ever for a long time. I definitely need to get her to start learning self-defense. Right now the best she can do is kick someone in the shins and/or punch them in the nose, at which point she might break her thumb cuz she doesn't know how to punch. She's fourteen, dammit, and homeschooled!

Character Name: Jack Russell
Canon: MCU: Werewolf By Night
Character Info: A very friendly and helpful werewolf who is slowly turning into a kistune. He's still very friendly and helpful, though. He also has a little shop where he repairs your clothing, or makes you more if your monster transformation really ruined yours. (He's still learning how to make clothes. Please do not judge the multiple tries he might need in order to get it right.)
Monster Plans: Just more spooky, fluffy fox traits. I haven't worked out what he's getting this month, but it'll be more along those lines. I'm not aiming to make his transformation really horrifying and awful, just... fluffy. He is meant to be cute and a little ethereal.
Event Plans: He is absolutely looting the corpses of those raiders for clothes, supplies, and information, and eying that tower warily. He is going werewolf again at the moon warp, so people will get the chance to fight him or be chased by him because his protectors are going to do a Dumb and leave him alone. Also there are Plans for Things to happen with his two roomies, so... we shall see where that goes. I am open to lots of things, hit me up!

I don't have a lot of specific ideas, but I think this new guy here could have some interesting talks with both of yours!

With Jolie, Danse is kind of tailor-made to set off authority issues like a stern robot Javert, but he's exactly the sort of guy who would see a 14-year-old on her own here and think "someone needs to teach that kid how to use a gun," and then attempt to be that someone. He is not exactly an AI, but he's a synthetic being whose brain can be restored to factory settings with a code phrase, so he's not exactly not one either.

With Jack, he's also going to be a werewolf, and has even less idea than most about what that entails or what he'll be getting into, because he isn't even familiar with fictional werewolf lore. Friendly, helpful and knowledgeable is exactly the kind of thing he'd need most in this situation, but clothes that fit his unusually burly self are like the thing he needs second-most and he doesn't care that much what they look like.

Jack's werewolfness is a thing he's had for two centuries, and he's kind of hoping his experience will help people? So he's trying to buck the secrecy he's had to keep for all that time. But he's good to help with clothes at the VERY least :D

Also please, please teach Jolie how to use a gun :D And synthetic beings kinda fall into the same category as AIs? She'll be amiably inclined I think.

Excellent! I don't know how people usually do starters here, but once you have a toplevel for event stuff I'll be happy to tag it for intros and offers of gun lessons and all of that, if that works!

It's cool, Faith can teach Jolie how to punch

(Faith isn't actually that skilled in punching, sadly, her form is rough to say the least, but she at least knows how to punch something bigger and tougher than her without breaking anything.)

Apparently she's gonna learn how to shoot a gun too :D So exciting!

But yes not breaking things is important. Show this homeschooled teenager how to do it, Faith!

Faith probably should pick up some basic gun skills at some point. And don't worry, homeschooling is still more schooling than this gal ever bothered with.

Heyo there! Jack having a clothing repair shop caught my attention, since Benny has a very fancy checkered suit jacket that might get snagged or ripped on all these upcoming thorns and razor brush - maybe he might swing by if he hears about it?

I may do another post at some point soonish with him telling all the new people he's available. Or Benny can just walk down to the trailer in the convoy where the shop is and stumble on him! Either way Jack would love that suit.

Sorry for the delay!

Jolie doesn't have any physical changes when they're in the oasis, but if Leo would like to get some "can't enter a room or car without an invitation" or plant-listening, I'm game!

Can't enter a room or car might not jive with his growing sensitivity to sunlight but he might be able to do plant-listening! his ghost changes are mainly ghostly pallor while he's in the oasis.
