Hello everyone, and welcome to Route 666 and our first OOC Intro and Mingle post! We're going to experiment with also having this double as our February Plotting Post! (Depending on player feedback, we may split this into two separate posts! Or leave it as is!)

UPDATE: AC REWARDS
To celebrate the first TDM being a success, all accepted players/characters will get one free AC Reward Point from whichever 5 comment thread they chose for their sample! People can also turn in additional 5 comment threads for more points, up to four more threads (with any number of comments in them) for extra rewards. In addition, you may also utilize any TDM prompts/events in the story log! (And likewise, you may do this up to four times!)

This is a one time occurrence and applies only for the January TDM.

FEBRUARY EVENT

INTO THE WOODS

After acquiring vehicles, Drifters will be hitting the road and navigating a dense forest. A road snakes through the trees, and sometimes vehicles can jump offroad and weave between the trees.

Drifters will encounter various hazards and rewards in these woods. These include:
+Haunted Groves that try to lure Drifters in to ensnare them for plant food. These trees can even reverse a transformation on Drifters, but will try to also lull Drifters into a sense of security so they can be ensnared on noose like vines, or get absorbed into the tree trunks.
+Wrecked Cars that hide assorted traps in the form of snares and fear toxin. There are also strange robot dogs called chromehounds stalking the wreckage, and are programmed to attack anyone displaying monster traits.
+Pockets of Magic dotting the road. These stasis pockets try to freeze Drifters, but are dispelled by Sigils with explosive results; sudden bursts of elemental magic tend to burst out as the fields get destroyed. Some of the stasis pockets dot the roads, and need to be burst. Vehicles can also help shield Drifters from the after effects, or quickly get them out of harm’s way.
+Moon Shrines scattered around the forest, with offerings on their altars and prayers written on their surfaces. Many of them contain the Silver Tears records on monsters, from the info pages. More pragmatic Drifters can also take the offered items from the altars… But this causes the candles to ignite, and burn hands and arms, leaving behind either a monster change, or burning a passage of text across the skin that slowly fades out over the month. This will also be our first RNG event with the text. We will have a sign up form below where we'll be distributing some lore via rolls! (Please note we are limiting this to one bit of lore per character, to keep things manageable!)

The exploration of the forest culminates in a strange ruin, a cross between a radio tower and a cabin in the woods. Once there, the Convoy experiences its first Moon Warp. Reality grows fluid, monsters burst to life from Husks in the forests, and Drifters will find their monster forms being called out to.

During the moon warp, Drifters will have two options:
1. Hide in the Convoy behind the shields, and thus avoid the worst of the Moon Warp and transformations. Things might be scary on the outside, but it’s possible to get a measure of peace indoors… Though they’ll need to make company with everyone else hiding inside.
2. Face the Moon Warp and the monsters head on, and thus enjoy a full fledged monster transformation and potentially a berserk state. It’s a brawl outside the Convoy shields, with other Husk monsters, and even chromehounds honing in on the warp and trying to slay all monsters. It’s chaotic, violent, and Drifters will need to burn a lot of energy to survive. By the end of the Warp they’ll be able to return to normal… Or possibly stay in a weakened monstrous state until events in March.

Character Info: a previously doe eyed, brilliant inventor and council show pony who fell down a literal hole and lived a dark souls speed run on expert mode. jayce has a good heart, and is a really sweet guy who's just a little traumatized by the trenches! and he might have magic rabies. he doesn't bite........ well
Monster Plans: jayce got draugr (undead) and I could not have been more ecstatic, he's going to hate it here 🥲 all of his traumas, sins and dislikes wrapped up in a rotting package of zombie is my kind of twisted humor and what he'll feel like is his karma. i'm going to make him draft horse themed and should have art at some point while i figure out a design. he'll become undead through his already dooming hexcorization so I'm excited for that 😏 the first six traits i'm considering are:

• Eyes shift blue when emotional.
• Emaciated form, almost skeletal. May have heart or various internals clearly exposed with no ill effects.
• Feeding frenzy: can easily be overwhelmed with hunger and a need to eat above all else.
• Equine features.
• Ice magic, can form and shape ice, typically into razor and cutting shapes.
• Urge to drink blood, eat living flesh, or otherwise consume life-essence.

Event Plans: I'm going to play a lot of this by ear because there're a lot of good options. jayce is likely falling more ill/looking sickly/getting worse as the start of his transformation, so he may not be in a position to fight toward the end of the month. idk, I'll see to it. he'll want to look into the shrines though, and make a list of all the runes encountered on people to start deciphering.
Extra: ok so there's this in game gag I want to start so I could take advantage of jayce being dead and that's people running him over lmao. roadkill!! might not happen now, I'm going to wait for him to zombiefy first but might as well put up an interest check for potential takers so I could make a list. in comment order!! who wants to beat the dead horse???

John's canon has one running joke, and it's that John and his human host are always falling down goddamn holes. If there's a big dark pit full of trauma, they WILL be spending several days or weeks in it. John will take one look at s2 Jayce and find his vibes comfortingly familiar.

"Idealistic and relentless, even to the point of vicious murder" is John's favorite type of person, so I think he will enjoy Jayce very much. However! He'll argue that the sigils may be dangerous knowledge better left alone, which could be a fun hitch to throw at Jayce specifically.

im crying because EVEN VIKTOR was like Do Not Touch That and even with all of jayce's experience in fucking with magic and finding out, he is blindly driven by the fact that his timeline is in danger and he needs to go back before he breaks his promise....... they are going to be good friends, trust.

Before the deciphering begins, we should totally have MB share its recording of those runes! It can probably patch itself into the screens on the vehicles to actually send those recordings to Jayce - might be fun for it to do that to Jayce's truck directly so he can get some hint of exactly how mechanical it is, too.

Let's do it in-game! It'll have Opinions about the truck and also it'll be a chance for Jayce to learn that it's not actually named Eden oops. And tbh I'm looking forward to his reaction to learning that it can just store photos in its brain.

Levi got on with Viktor and I'm on an Arcane kick lately so I'm interested in seeing how he gets along with Jayce. And he's another frail-looking pale boy with a slavic-esq accent

I never got around to tagging Jayce on the TDM 'cause I had a lot of threads going, but I'm definitely down to throw this teenage disaster detective his way.

This is a boy who has lived through hell and become a monster in many regards, with his own share of trauma and sins. He also got along p. well with Viktor. xD

I'm really excited about Yang and Jayce working together, so maybe they could explore a shrine together looking for some runes?

If the queue is still open for people to hit Jayce with a car I would love for Roger to be one of them, mostly because Roger has accidentally done so before in canon (probably multiple times honestly)
