OOC Intro/February Plotting Post!
Hello everyone, and welcome to Route 666 and our first OOC Intro and Mingle post! We're going to experiment with also having this double as our February Plotting Post! (Depending on player feedback, we may split this into two separate posts! Or leave it as is!)
To celebrate the first TDM being a success, all accepted players/characters will get one free AC Reward Point from whichever 5 comment thread they chose for their sample! People can also turn in additional 5 comment threads for more points, up to four more threads (with any number of comments in them) for extra rewards. In addition, you may also utilize any TDM prompts/events in the story log! (And likewise, you may do this up to four times!)
This is a one time occurrence and applies only for the January TDM.
INTO THE WOODS
After acquiring vehicles, Drifters will be hitting the road and navigating a dense forest. A road snakes through the trees, and sometimes vehicles can jump offroad and weave between the trees.
Drifters will encounter various hazards and rewards in these woods. These include:
+Haunted Groves that try to lure Drifters in to ensnare them for plant food. These trees can even reverse a transformation on Drifters, but will try to also lull Drifters into a sense of security so they can be ensnared on noose like vines, or get absorbed into the tree trunks.
+Wrecked Cars that hide assorted traps in the form of snares and fear toxin. There are also strange robot dogs called chromehounds stalking the wreckage, and are programmed to attack anyone displaying monster traits.
+Pockets of Magic dotting the road. These stasis pockets try to freeze Drifters, but are dispelled by Sigils with explosive results; sudden bursts of elemental magic tend to burst out as the fields get destroyed. Some of the stasis pockets dot the roads, and need to be burst. Vehicles can also help shield Drifters from the after effects, or quickly get them out of harm’s way.
+Moon Shrines scattered around the forest, with offerings on their altars and prayers written on their surfaces. Many of them contain the Silver Tears records on monsters, from the info pages. More pragmatic Drifters can also take the offered items from the altars… But this causes the candles to ignite, and burn hands and arms, leaving behind either a monster change, or burning a passage of text across the skin that slowly fades out over the month. This will also be our first RNG event with the text. We will have a sign up form below where we'll be distributing some lore via rolls! (Please note we are limiting this to one bit of lore per character, to keep things manageable!)
The exploration of the forest culminates in a strange ruin, a cross between a radio tower and a cabin in the woods. Once there, the Convoy experiences its first Moon Warp. Reality grows fluid, monsters burst to life from Husks in the forests, and Drifters will find their monster forms being called out to.
During the moon warp, Drifters will have two options:
1. Hide in the Convoy behind the shields, and thus avoid the worst of the Moon Warp and transformations. Things might be scary on the outside, but it’s possible to get a measure of peace indoors… Though they’ll need to make company with everyone else hiding inside.
2. Face the Moon Warp and the monsters head on, and thus enjoy a full fledged monster transformation and potentially a berserk state. It’s a brawl outside the Convoy shields, with other Husk monsters, and even chromehounds honing in on the warp and trying to slay all monsters. It’s chaotic, violent, and Drifters will need to burn a lot of energy to survive. By the end of the Warp they’ll be able to return to normal… Or possibly stay in a weakened monstrous state until events in March.
And that is our route planned for the month! We hope you enjoy this event, and feel free to plan in the comments below!
Also, feel free to introduce yourself with this handy box, if you would like!

Player Name: Ten
Contact:
RP STUFF!
Character Name: Serph
Canon: Digital Devil Saga
Character Info: One day, a man named Serph was turned into a monster and was told to seek Nirvana.
That was before he joined the Convoy.
Long story short, he's an AI whose virtual world (which was a military simulation) was infected with a virus that gave him emotion, faint memories of a life he never lived, and a demon that needed him to devour his enemies lest he lose his mind. Since his directive as the leader of his people was to reach Nirvana by conquest, he either allied with or slaughtered those who stood in his way. But when he passed through the gates of Nirvana, he entered the Real World (tm) and it was majorly messed up because the sun turned black and turns humans into stone! Yay!
Serph himself is a pretty quiet guy. Despite previously being the leader of hundreds of people, he's economical with words, chosing to either express himself with action or direct and blunt speech. And because of the extremely limited nature of the virtual world he had lived in and the very short time he's spent in the real world, his cluelessness about common things like animals and education can make him seem very strange. But he's eager to learn, even if his lack of expression makes that hard to tell.
No matter what difficulties get thrown at him, you can be sure he will remain cool and level-headed, and sometimes that can make him seem like a pushover as he doesn't react to people talking shit about him directly to his face. But make no mistake; he's lived in a world of violence, where it is eat or be eaten, and he's not afraid to tear people apart even if he dreams of a better place, a world without fighting. Once he's taken someone under his wing, you can be sure he will fight alongside you to make it through whatever hell gets tossed your way.
For those canon familiar, he's from after the first visit to the EGG. (I changed his canon point during the TDM.)
As alluded to, Serph is a cannibal (coming from the canon that is a major inspiration for DWRP monster games) so he comes with content warnings about eating people/monsters and gore. I have an opt-out here if you would like me to try and avoid it/keep descriptions non-explicit.
Monster Plans: Serph will be a Celestial, specifically a Seraph. And. I uh. Might have gotten a bit carried away while waiting for apps to be processed. (If you want me to design your character's monster for you, I'm opening monster commissions next week.)
Basically, I intend to eventually have Serph gain the trait of hating demons, which will be totally messed up when he has a demon as an intrinsic part of him! Wahoo! He won't be getting any of the cool Celestial powers (other than commanding voice... later...) because I want him to still be reliant on his demon so he can loathe himself more :)
He'll start with: wings, extra eye, glowing hair, glowing eyes/aura, and feathers.
Event Plans: I fully intent to have Serph face the Moon Warp. He's been through a similar experience so he can help others who may have trouble with their transformation... though his own will also be rather messy, too. He would also be up for exploring the Moon Shrines and given his uhhh distinct lack of knowledge, he'd likely need a buddy to help him with interpreting the message!
Extra: cw: light gore. How to greet someone when you haven't seen them for a while

I am also SO DOWN with all the gore/cannibal stuff. Give me all the gross descriptions, I'm here for it haha. Excited to Rp with you

I love Serph already and I am here for continued CR pls. He'd love to help interpret moon shrine messages, he is a very worldly and knowledgeable individual! Kinda!

Also they can be "guys who already turn into monsters getting even more transformations" buddies-

Also the Actual Cannibal Serph Embryon is going to be a Time when it finds out

:) :) :) Don't worry about it, SecUnit. You're made of too many electronics to be ok to eat-

Very game to continue their interactions from before. If nothing else Akihiko has clocked Serph as "kind of cool, mildly intimidating (though please don't let him know), has vague Leader vibes even if he doesn't have blue hair." Might even take one or two cues from him, though Akihiko will be eager to prove he's no slouch at handling things. Because it's WEIRD to not be the cool responsible person of the team, in comparison.

Absolutely! LMAO intimidating... well that's a first for Serph, honestly LOL. (Will they need to have a talk in the future about not needing to prove himself to Serph; Serph already believes in his capability!)
