OOC Intro/February Plotting Post!
Hello everyone, and welcome to Route 666 and our first OOC Intro and Mingle post! We're going to experiment with also having this double as our February Plotting Post! (Depending on player feedback, we may split this into two separate posts! Or leave it as is!)
To celebrate the first TDM being a success, all accepted players/characters will get one free AC Reward Point from whichever 5 comment thread they chose for their sample! People can also turn in additional 5 comment threads for more points, up to four more threads (with any number of comments in them) for extra rewards. In addition, you may also utilize any TDM prompts/events in the story log! (And likewise, you may do this up to four times!)
This is a one time occurrence and applies only for the January TDM.
INTO THE WOODS
After acquiring vehicles, Drifters will be hitting the road and navigating a dense forest. A road snakes through the trees, and sometimes vehicles can jump offroad and weave between the trees.
Drifters will encounter various hazards and rewards in these woods. These include:
+Haunted Groves that try to lure Drifters in to ensnare them for plant food. These trees can even reverse a transformation on Drifters, but will try to also lull Drifters into a sense of security so they can be ensnared on noose like vines, or get absorbed into the tree trunks.
+Wrecked Cars that hide assorted traps in the form of snares and fear toxin. There are also strange robot dogs called chromehounds stalking the wreckage, and are programmed to attack anyone displaying monster traits.
+Pockets of Magic dotting the road. These stasis pockets try to freeze Drifters, but are dispelled by Sigils with explosive results; sudden bursts of elemental magic tend to burst out as the fields get destroyed. Some of the stasis pockets dot the roads, and need to be burst. Vehicles can also help shield Drifters from the after effects, or quickly get them out of harm’s way.
+Moon Shrines scattered around the forest, with offerings on their altars and prayers written on their surfaces. Many of them contain the Silver Tears records on monsters, from the info pages. More pragmatic Drifters can also take the offered items from the altars… But this causes the candles to ignite, and burn hands and arms, leaving behind either a monster change, or burning a passage of text across the skin that slowly fades out over the month. This will also be our first RNG event with the text. We will have a sign up form below where we'll be distributing some lore via rolls! (Please note we are limiting this to one bit of lore per character, to keep things manageable!)
The exploration of the forest culminates in a strange ruin, a cross between a radio tower and a cabin in the woods. Once there, the Convoy experiences its first Moon Warp. Reality grows fluid, monsters burst to life from Husks in the forests, and Drifters will find their monster forms being called out to.
During the moon warp, Drifters will have two options:
1. Hide in the Convoy behind the shields, and thus avoid the worst of the Moon Warp and transformations. Things might be scary on the outside, but it’s possible to get a measure of peace indoors… Though they’ll need to make company with everyone else hiding inside.
2. Face the Moon Warp and the monsters head on, and thus enjoy a full fledged monster transformation and potentially a berserk state. It’s a brawl outside the Convoy shields, with other Husk monsters, and even chromehounds honing in on the warp and trying to slay all monsters. It’s chaotic, violent, and Drifters will need to burn a lot of energy to survive. By the end of the Warp they’ll be able to return to normal… Or possibly stay in a weakened monstrous state until events in March.
And that is our route planned for the month! We hope you enjoy this event, and feel free to plan in the comments below!
Also, feel free to introduce yourself with this handy box, if you would like!

RP STUFF!
Character Name: Arcade Gannon
Canon: Fallout: New Vegas
Character Info: A very tired doctor from wacky nuclear wasteland Las Vegas. Despite this, he is actually Very BoringTM. Just take his word for it. God put all of his stat points into intelligence and charisma and as payback he refuses to use the latter for anything other than occasionally being so obnoxiously sarcastic it might get him killed. He's dedicated his life to humanitarian outreach even though the world is a hellish ruin because he's just that upsettingly decent. Exactly as much of a nerd as the labcoat and glasses make him look. Secretly raised by fugitive war criminals, but that's probably not important. [ quick info page | app ]
Monster Plans: Arcade is going to be stuck with Naga, for his monster type. He already has some scales on his arms, but I'd also like to give him venom, cold-blooded, forked tongue/vital sense, toxin/poison resistance, and maaaaybe extra arms?? I'm torn between this and a full-on serpentine form, but I'd prob reserve that just for reversible transformation times/event stuff. Eventually it'd be neat to add on some chimera or gargoyle traits, as well, since those were my other favorites for him.
Event Plans: Oof he'll definitely be exploring the wrecked cars & moon shrines, because he's from a world where scavenging and salvage are necessary to keep on living. Not sure about the fear toxin but definitely here for narrow misses and dangerous traps. Thinking he'll stay inside for the moon warp bc I do love the idea of awkward hunkered down getting-to-know-you time (and more opportunity for him to explore the convoy in general).
I def let TDM threads get away from me, as well, but I'll be happy to handwave or start over with CR if anybody I throw a late tag back to prefers it!

I'm very familiar with the source material and liked the direction things were going~ I had continued the TDM that they got separated once night fell, but if you want to restart, that's totally fine too!

They can meet back up for dangerous car wreck exploration for sure.

Heck, she might even hit him up for some basic first aid when supplies are limited.
no subject
He is always available for first aid help as well!!

I dunno, just a thought.

Yang could join him for searching wrecked cars? She's new to this sort of thing and could use the pointers from an experienced Wastelander. XD

Meanwhile Arcade's just impressed with having working vehicles and not needing to walk everywhere. (He just needs to learn how to drive....)
no subject
Well, Yang is also helping her younger sister Ruby learn how to drive too, so she could theoretically take Arcade on too if they hit it off!
no subject
Aw cute. Definitely if they get along! He's smart and all but some pointers would not be amiss.
no subject
It'd also join in on the scavenging, because it knows Arcade's got limited ammo, so definitely down for getting into some traps while scavenging.
no subject
They can go exploring afterward, too.
