December Plotting Post

WELL, here we are everyone! Someway, somehow, we've made it to December and the last month of the year. As a reminder, AC is optional and check-in for December much as it was for December. It's a very busy time of the year, and no point in adding more stress for people. If you wish to do AC Rewards and the like, feel free. But otherwise, please don't worry about Activity Checks for this month! Go forth and enjoy (or survive!) the holiday season.

With that said, here's what we've got planned for December!

Full of monsters, frostbite, hostile mountains, and lots of snow.

As for RP, this month the Convoy will be climbing up an imposing and snow wrapped mountain. There’s going to be obstacles in the form of weather, and elements raging out of control; fire and ice are both warring, and even take on the forms of monsters in the form of Lunagaron and Glavenus having a turf battle. This turf battle can cause avalanches, fire storms, the odd Banbaro stampede… And even affect the Drifters with Elemental and Raiju event transformations. It’s also possible to pick up fire and ice elemental powers on top of everything else!

Beyond that, the storms grow steadily worse as the month goes by. And the Convoy fuel continues to drop down to dangerously low levels. Though thankfully, there’s a structure looming near the summit, that should be able to provide shelter and fuel… Though that will be an arrival for next time!

One more odd little quirk about the ascent up the mountains this month. The radios pick up a peculiar quirk as the snow storms grow worse midway through the month.

A radio broadcast comes in from the Mysterious Radio Host, though it is extremely weak… And apparently prone to hijacking, as two other voices cut in to make contact with the Drifters. These voices can quickly be identified as a Steel Warden and Silver Tear and judging by their tone, they are people with some clout and some interest in the Drifters.

The signal is growing worse as the storm ramps up. But Drifters will have time to get one or two questions and comments from one of the speakers, before the signal cuts out completely. ((Read, we can manage a 5ish comment chain for characters!))

Canon: OG Final Fantasy VII (after ending, before Advent Children)

Character Info: Man full of sins and monsters even before he came to Revan. Marked with the Undead Sigil (something that would need to be scanned as the sigil is hidden at the back of his neck under all that hair), he also offers a 'gun shop' a couple hours overlapping the Convoy's evening stop. These are salvaged, repaired firearms and some limited extras, ammo and repairs.

Monster Plans: Vincent's Revan monster is the vampire he was always meant to be (haha). In all seriousness he currently rocks fangs and blood thirst. While he can go out in sunlight, the more direct it is the weaker he tends to be. All that clothing helps somewhat but he's definitely stronger at night these days. He'll be getting his planned cold powers and mist form this month for sure.

Event Plans: Gonna participate but I don't have any immediate plans specific to the info so far.

Extra: ...Currently trying to instigate the advent of dreidelanches. Might think about invoking the Twelve Days of Christmas song in one of my prompts. Be warned.

Character Info: Deeply traumatized former teen detective/celebrity/assassin who was dealt basically the shittiest hand between being born an illegitimate child in a country that stigmatizes them, losing his mother when he was very young, suffering through neglect in the foster system, and eventually being empowered by a malevolent god that awakened powers within him that he used to make himself "useful" to his piece of shit father with plans to betray him later...

Except he kinda got more than he bargained for and ended up being his father's personal hitman, passed around his inner circle, while given praise, privileges, and opportunities to sweeten the deal.

Akechi has caused a lot of harm, but he also has no interest in justifying his crimes. He has been working to be a better person here and is deeply invested in understanding this world, its history, and its mysteries.

He also is the number one Steel Wardens hater. They should all die, actually. Serves 'em right.

Monster Plans: I think I'm gonna stick to Akechi's current monsters (nekomata and chimera). He can shift between forms, but at this point he's very inhuman in both forms, save for when he uses his illusion abilities as a nekomata to appear more human.

Event Plans: Akechi is going to be so on edge with the radio jackings. He doesn't trust the Tears or the Wardens, but he has a deep hatred for the Wardens for their self-righteous killings. Ironic, given his own crimes, but that's all the more reason to fuel that hate.

He's extremely skeptical and really only trusts those among the Drifters he's grown to care about. ...That being said, if Haru gets in, hoo boy. There is going to be a lot to unpack there, and I am here for it.

Extra: Akechi is very aware of the general time of year and is going to be a bit uneasy because Christmas Eve in Japan is a very romantic holiday. ...He does not consider himself a romantic person.

Also, since his chimera form can use fire and water/ice magic, he may be helpful for weather-related shenanigans.

Character Info: Game Nav. Andrew's been able to see ghosts (called haunts by him and his best friend) since he was 12 and recently lost his best friend back home. He's been doing a lot better, all things considered, and has been happier the past few weeks than he has in a long time. He's still a lil gremlin though, awkward socially and short tempered in some situations, but he means well.
Monster Plans: He's a Cerberus and might be getting a whole bunch of new monster traits this month (horns, scales, loyalty compulsion, and he has doom echo that has yet to manifest because I haven't been sure when a good time for it would be). I'm very excited about the potential for all of them, though Andrew's probably going to be considerably less excited, at least at first.
Event Plans: Snow!! He's not really used to snow and temperatures being THAT cold, but at least it'll be different from the heat. I have no actual plans just yet but I'm very eager to see what shenanigans Andrew can get up to this month, in addition to his hopeful monster changes. Also maybe the potential for some cute things with his dog form.

Character Name: Joseph Kavinsky
Canon: The Raven Cycle
Character Info: Game Nav. Kavinsky's 18 years old and a Dreamer. Being a dreamer means he can dream more or less anything (barring some nerfs here) he wants into existence. He loves it, but it's also put him on the outside a lot, where he feels lonely and is desperate for connection and kinship. His family's awful to him and he's struggling with a whole lot of stuff. He tends to come across as an asshole and his gremlin energy is So High, but he's also a good friend and pretty great when he gets to like someone.
Monster Plans: Kavinsky's an Elemental, specifically Fire Genasi, and I don't have many actual plans yet! I'm writing this up before I go back and decide on what his starting traits are going to be, except for what I slid on the tdm which I think is uncontrolled elemental surges when emotional naturally, I forgot to make a note to myself at the time. But I'm very excited to do fire related things with him.
Event Plans: I'm unsure! Kavinsky likes the snow more than the heat though (most of the time), but he also doesn't have the appropriate clothes for snow, so he might be a bit displeased with things until he manages to be less cold. He's brand new, too, so he'll be getting his bearings, etc.
Extra: SO UH. He's going to be kidnapping adopting a trio of cuccos that he's managed to befriend, and putting lil (brightly colored) leg bands on them with tiny names on each (he's naming them after some of his friends). But he's not really set up to properly take care of them and isn't entirely sure how, but he wants them to be well cared for, so he'll be seeking advice and some help from people with more knowledge.

He's strongly technologically-minded, a ladder-climber (don't ask how), a certified yapper- he was a weather man, talk show host and more in life, so that scans- and loves him some sharks. He misses his giant demon shark doggy...
Monster Plans: He's a kitsune! I have some concepts in mind for a technological, sort of cyborg-y kitsune form that I need to scribble up sometime. Current plans for abilities are: Reflexes, liver-eating (yum yum), full transformation, illusion magic, spirit marble, and weather control (because he needs to go back to being a weather boy~). I'm excited to play around with things!
Event Plans: WHY'S IT SO FUCKING COLD??? BRRR. Yeah, he's used to Hell being hot and awful, so he's going to be a little bitchy about the weather. I think I want him to go toe to toe with a lunagaron. It's one of my favorite monsters... but otherwise he plans on babying his brand new blue corvette and trying to ignore certain things that happen to be here too.

Character Info: JRPG protagonist, Wild Card Persona user, Phantom Thief, teenager, and just a little guy from Japan. Got falsely convicted for assault and sent to Tokyo for a year of probation, decided to fight injustice and reform society instead of keeping his head down. Like you do.

Ren is super easy to befriend! He collects outcasts and people have a habit of opening up to him and telling their secrets. He’s a good listener and gives good advice. He spends a good deal of time in the kitchen cooking meals for the Convoy, so he’s easy to find. He’s also terminally Helpful in that JRPG protag way, so feel free to approach him with your sidequests.

Monster Plans: His monster type is Celestial but he hasn’t yet sprouted eyes and wings, so he probably reads more like Infernal, because he picked up horns a few months back.

Event Plans: Nothing too specific! Very open for plotting.

Character Info: She has been described as "zesty," "a lethal combination of beauty, power, and death," a "homicidal lunatic," "criminally insane," "the bad slayer," "the good slayer," and "so cool."

None of those things are wrong, exactly. ('The Good Slayer' is a work in progress, but aside from that.)

She was a neglected child who turned into a wild teenager, discovered that she was the Chosen One*, met her Watcher, bonded with her Watcher, saw her Watcher die in front of her at the hands of an ancient vampire, fled to Sunnydale (*Where the other Chosen One lives- it's complicated), was chased by the ancient vampire, helped kill the ancient vampire, befriended the other Slayer, accidentally murdered a man, betrayed the other Slayer, signed on with Mayor Mr Rogers But Evil, tried to kill the other Slayer's emo vampire-with-a-soul boyfriend, got stabbed and fell off a roof, should have died, didn't, woke up from the coma eight months later, stole the other Slayer's body, tried to flee the country, got hung up on that pesky conscience, got stuck in her own body again for her troubles, fled to LA, tried to get the same vampire-with-a-soul to kill her because she couldn't handle the guilt, had a breakdown when he refused, spent a few years in jail, broke out to save said vampire after he lost his soul, and then went back to Sunnydale to help the other Slayer blow up the ultimate evil. (Did you get all that?)

It's messy. She's trying to do better now.
Monster Plans: Dullahan (Undead variant.) She's corpsey, she's got a grotesque wound on her neck that looks like it should have decapitated her, and- fantastic news- every night, it does! Her head falls off as soon as the sun sets and reattaches in the morning. She hungers for life energy, which she can drain by touch- but also only at night. She's not a fan.

No temporary transformations this month, but the snow might make her stiffer. Corpsey and all that.

Event Plans: Faith's car is already well and truly limping, and she does not know how to fix it. Using it as a tiny mobile siege engine for most of a year has not been kind to it. The snow will not help.

She's not much for the radio nonsense- she's never been much of a diplomat or investigator, and anyway the only thing she really wants to communicate with the Steel Wardens is something pointy through something vital- but she'll still be just as quick to fight off monsters and elementals, and she'll be doing her best to rescue anybody struggling in the snowstorms and avalanches.

Monster Plans: KITSUNE TIME - this absolute nerd is going to be so cranky that even though he finally gets to be a predator animal instead of prey.... he's just some small omnivore instead of the top of the food chain LMAO. If it's any consolation, Al, you're getting 9 tails! And a penchant for devouring livers!
Event Plans: Alastor is certainly going to be fiddling with the far-off faint radio signals, collecting information from people... but I don't have any other solid plans yet! He will also probably try to get some Deals going with characters... if you ever want to use that for a Plot, we can SO do that.
Extra: this absolute NERD has something like the following as his vehicle, complete with large loudspeakers mounted on top. Didn't want to listen to the radio? Too bad! It's jazz or Alastor's daily chatter whether you want it or not! :D

Monster Plans: Leo's had a few more undead traits come in over time, but for now I'm going to keep him where he is. I eventually want him to get (permanent) unicorn traits, but I think I'm holding on to that for the new year.
Event Plans: The good news is that Leo being undead means he isn't as affected by the cold as he thought he was going to be! which is great because he still doesn't wear pants. I don't have any other specific plans... I'm open to anything!

Character Name: Serph
Canon: Digital Devil Saga
Character Info: Serph is your resident local biblical angel who also happens to be a cannibalistic demon chowing down on local monsters and a military artificial intelligence given physical form. So he's very good at fighting and killing and not very good at anything else.

In fact, there's a lot of extremely common concepts that he's not familiar with (what's school? what are feelings? plants are still a delightful novelty) because he's actually only existed for just under 6 years with 5 of them spent in a very limited combat simulation and the remaining 1 having emotions in Revan. So he's always very curious about things he doesn't know or understand and is open to learn things from others!

His goal has always been to reach Nirvana (not Revan's Nirvana) and initially his experiences happened to be very similar. Get turned into a monster? Check. Humans turned into something unmoving? Check. Fucked up celestial body in the sky that may or may not house a god? Check. It's almost like his canon is happening again.

Monster Plans: Serph's a celestial with 6 wings, so he's easy to spot no matter what. His celestial form is absolutely useless for any sort of meaningful fighting.

But Serph changes monster with basically every event, though he'll almost always have the wings so that's how you can tell it's him. Sometimes... he gets even more wings. This man can fit so many wings.

Event Plans: Serph will become an ice elemental! Since he also has the merfolk trait for temperature tolerance, he won't be affected by the cold weather. So if you would like to hide in his triple down blanket of wings at any point, he will share :)

He'll definitely be interested in talking to the Steel Warden and Silver Tear; all this time, they've had almost no contact with anyone who actually lives here. They've been journeying in the wake of ghosts, all that was once human has lost everything that made them so.

Character Info: Aerith is team cheerleader with a heart of gold that's actually secretly really super lonely. The entire canon and timeline is full of shenanigans but she does now she's not alive anymore so there's some irony with what monster she's becoming! Despite being held captive by an evil greedy corporation she still tries to see the best in everyone and to make the most of every bit of time she has. Which turns out wasn't much. Also may or may not genuinely talk to flowers.

Monster Plans: Vampire. I really want to deal with the sharp teeth and claws, maybe accidentally scratching people and feeling horrible. And then of course the desire to drink blood and feeling AGHAST by that

Event Plans: I am absolutely up for anything! Just really want to dive into getting CR of any kind. She's surprisingly great with characters who are prickly or who are more subdued or shy. I'm open to anything from more dramatic things to just easy going CR building.

What you really need to know about Mikey, though, is that he's the youngest of the four turtle brothers and he is basically sunshine incarnate. And that means ALL sides of the sun. Cheerful and warm and good for you... but also capable of burning you to a crisp and ruining your whole day in the right circumstances. Just like his brothers he's a highly trained ninja and a world-saving hero who miiiiiiight be a little bit traumatized after the Krang invasion happened. But it's okay! Really! Turning into a monster over time is totally not gonna make that worse!
He loves to cook, sing, dance and play games. He loves art and making people happy. He's also shockingly good at reading people's emotional states and helping them with it. Whether that means they need a hug or need a visit from Doctor Delicate Touch.

Monster Plans: Drakonis : Dragon
I am honestly SO jazzed at the chance to have Mike turn into a dragon. I've gone over the traits a bunch and trying to pick just six to start with is proving tough! I know I want him to get physical attributes, like horns, wings, scales, longer tail, etc. But I'm also planning on him going ice powers, since his Ninpo powers from canon are fire based! It'll be fun having him be a little frostfire.

Event Plans: I genuinely don't know other than he is going to be everywhere and doing everything cause he's new here! So mostly he's still learning about everything and will be doing his best to help out.

Extra: Mikey was given a version of The Party Wagon and he has every intention of making it just that. He LOVES to cook and socialize and he knows how much that sort of thing can help with morale and keep people's spirits up. So he's probably going to figure out how to collect stuff to turn it into a comfortable little cafe/food truck style thing on wheels. He'll decorate and scavenge with the best of them to give people somewhere that can be a cheerful little hang out spot with hot drinks. Especially if he can learn what plants are safe for drying into herbs, spices and teas!
