Welcome everyone to May, and our next round of TDM and Apps! This month we’re leaving behind one weird region and entering an equally strange location; the Convoy slowly rolls into a massive valley where gravity just doesn’t work like it should.

Parts of the land float in strange islands, as do trees and even Husks. This includes the remnants of an old battle ground between monsters and more of those metal cyborg soldiers; all of which are dead, but capable of being looted and investigated.

The buildings are also effected, with the odd ruins growing upside down out of the earth, and the interiors constantly twisting and turning. The buildings have also been mashed together, with various strange research facilities bleeding into hospitals, schools, and the like. All manner of strange monsters wander these lands… And one monster in particular is going to cause some interesting effects.

As Drifters wander through the valley, they have high odds of coming in contact with strange glowing sage brush. This brush will incur various telepathic effects on characters.
Blue Glow: Makes Drifters more empathetic in a psychic sense. They can register the emotions of those nearby, and may start to feel those same emotions.
Green Glow: Makes Drifters capable of projecting their emotions onto other people. Like empathy in reverse! This can range from a slight buzz of emotion to fully magnified and mirrored emotions. (Note: Please talk this effect out with other players in advance!)
Purple Glow: Gives Drifters telepathy, to hear and send thoughts to those nearby.
Orange Glow: Grants Drifters limited psychometry. (Object reading.) This is perhaps the most sporadic of the powers, fluctuating strangely and only working on an object or two per Drifter.
Drifters will also find that they can link dreams and share them… Though eventually those dreams can easily become nightmares. And nightmares can transform Drifters, if they are severe enough. The nightmares presage an attack of Intellect Devourers at the end of the month, which swarm the camp! It’ll be a task to repel them.

Psychometry Reading
In addition, those who gain psychometry and try reading objects in this location can take part in our second RNG event! Please comment to the “Psychometry Readings” below, and specify whether your character will be using psychometry in either the battle ground or the hospital ruins. We will then roll up one of seven prompts for each one, and give you the resulting vision to play with!

To top it all off, we also have Swarm traits active this month, to further roll with the psionic angle! When our TDM goes up, we’ll continue with Swarm traits, and further delve into the hospital ruins with more exploration. And a little more gravity shenanigans. We’ll see you then!

What happens if I use psychometry on anything in the Convoy?
If Drifters decide to read anything from the Convoy, they get the same message: “You carry the last prayer for Nirvana.”

Can I stack psionic abilities on my character?
Drifters may find these effects stacking on them. Please be advised that this might overload their minds and force transformations. Those with Swarm traits will find it easier to handle these psionic abilities. Additionally, ALL DRIFTERS who experience any of the effects will find themselves susceptible to a nightmare event towards the end of the month, followed by the brain attack.

What runes can my character expect to find?
There are no legible runes in the valley; the few that are present have been violently scoured and torn away, by blades or weapons of some sort. Occasionally the symbol of a sword piercing the moon can be seen, scrawled over or next to a defaced rune.

Can my character find supplies here?
Yes, assorted supplies are available for scavenging. The hospital carries medical and healing supplies, while the battle ground has old bullets and weapons and the like.

In addition there are a few scattered packages of cigarettes around, mint flavored.

SO I'd def like to play with some terrible monstery body horror and chimera form grossness, so maybe this is the month? I mean like, come on. creepy af hospitals/schools/research facilities are atmospheric as hell, who doesn't love that 💕 thanks, Benny hates it and this

honestly april was just me 1) insanely swamped with sad work deadlines (apologies for the slow tags, I'll try to pick up the pace) and 2) keeping up with the fallout (ha ha) of the insane wastelander drama Benny accidentally kicked off when he tried to shoot a guy and said guy cut his finger off ☺️ Anyway, spitballing ideas:

Emotion projection: Anyone interested in feeling really, really paranoid for like no reason at all? If you want your character to feel constantly watched and their every move scrutinized even within the safety of the convoy with the weird, sweaty, threatening spectre of being hunted hanging over their heads, feel free 🫡

Telepathy: There's now a mental 24/7 radio station that beams the same 4 songs directly into ur character's head, tune into Benny's head to find out more. I'd also love him to be mildly inconvenienced (or a lot) by picking up other people's thoughts as well?? He doesn't care what you're having for lunch!! Shoo horny thoughts, go away!!

Although if he's picking up anybody feeling particularly lonely or isolated, he might sidle over and make some convo? Maybe play some cards? He is trying to make some ~~allies~~ friends, here.

And of course, if you got anything else on your mind, hmu!

Alright everyone, are you ready to go to Nirvana? With the dreamshare, you'll be able to visit Nirvana! ...At least, the one that Serph has been to. Which happens to bear some similarities to the situation in Revan.

Fucked up celestial bodies? Check. (It's the sun instead of the moon.)
Humans rendered immobile? Check. (They were turned into stone instead of metal.)
People who turn into monsters? Check.
Abaondoned buildings and ruins? Check.

As a lovely bonus, anyone who thinks of themselves as human within this dream will agonisingly turn into stone within the dream :) And those who consider themselves monsters (or otherwise non-human) will not. So if you wanna play around with all that implies... :) :) :)

Serph won't have much in terms of the psychic powers from the event other than the psychometry. He will try to read from the Convoy, getting the, "You carry the last prayer for Nirvana," message and will be reading from the hospital. Serph is relatively up to date on lore stuff and he's happy to talk about that.

But for the people who are getting telepathy, uhhhhhhhhhhhhh you're gonna get this from Serph.

This is all exciting! I dearly love a creepy hospital, and Danse loves an old battlefield, so he will be reading from the battlefield but checking out both. If anyone else is going to be investigating the hospital ruins, and wants a burly dude with a laser rifle as backup--or if they don't, but you want to have them run into him there anyway--let me know! I just want to play out some scavenging through the horrors.

I am also extremely into the possibilities of the telepathic effects and the dreamsharing, and super down to play with all of the psionic abilities. Emotional feedback loops? Broadcasting embarrassing intrusive thoughts and picking them up in turn? Maybe shared physical sensations? Anything you want to do with Mind Powers, hit me up.

There are a couple of levels on which I'd like to play with the dreamshare, because I love those too. Primarily I like them for icebreaking and making CR a little easier, like if a stoic or closed-off character is the type to feel less inhibited in a dream and do or say things they might hold back from otherwise, because they don't think it's real. So I'm always down for the kind of conversations that are easier to have in dreamland, etc.

On another level, Danse's canon leaves it purposely ambiguous whether synths like him can dream in the same way humans do. I'm opting to play his dreams as being closer to straightforward flashbacks than abstract surrealism, and it would be really cool for him to experience just how weird human dreams can get by finding himself in someone else's. If you want to give a very confused android a front-row seat to whatever oddness is happening in your character's subconcious, I am here for it!

I'll include a prompt with a nightmare flashback of his own to his almost-execution, if anyone wants to see what the Brotherhood of Steel is all about and go "dude why did you sign up for this" or whatever, but mostly I'd like to poke around in other dreams.

I feel like I dropped the ball a bit on the last event, but this kind of stuff is where I really feel in my element and I understand the mechanics of everything a lot better now, so I'm excited to dive back in! (And also to carry on with things from the last event, naturally.)

Kaidan's a seasoned soldier so rather than re-threading canon with its many battlefields, I'd like to focus on the hospital ruins. Not only is Kaidan a trained field medic, but also a survivor of a clandestine government program for gifted kids. It did a lot of shady unethical shit, to the point he killed his teacher and got the program shut down.

So, dreamshare-wise I'd love to explore that, the sense of powerlessness as a child among adults who decide whether you live or die, then the fear of being inhuman because you just killed another sentient being with your super powers. He also got a psychometry reading above, so trying to figure out that mystery while not freaking out will be a struggle. Emotion projection will be a given. Psionic abilities are cool too, he's familiar with that stuff. His mental track is...interesting, to say the least.

This month I'd like to focus on tagging out. College is winding down but still got finals, so I'd rather avoid a top level. Let me know if you'd like Kaidan somewhere, I'd be happy to reply. He's a chill guy when people are not cutting each other's fingers off, or if he's not being harangued over network. And all of that is on him, skill issue for not brushing up on the 'dealing with unknown species' part in the Spectre manual.

Levi is definitely going to be checking out the battle field, and with his new doom echo power he will be more susceptible to flashbacks (cws: kids sent to war, trench warfare, general war death/destruction/gore; will put any prompt of this under a details cut). I'm thinking of playing around with the empathy powers with this, either him projecting fear ~~(& hunger)~~ or terror or other bad emotions with the green glow, OR people being able to calm him down easier with their emotions from the blue glow power.
this its probably a good excuse for me to put him in bone doggy mode in a non-combat situation and/or have him slink off and hide somewhere as a sad puppy.

(if it needs to be said, i'm not going to force his cws on anyone in other threads! though i may ask if okay)

he'll also be ruin diving, mosty providing security detail/back up for anyone else doing so. No one, especially a non-combatant, should be checking out those places alone. So he might just force himself on anyone trying to do so.

i dunno on swarm traits. i might give him wings again but i'll have to look at the rest of them before i decide on more or if i'll let him sit this one out.

So not having Natsuhi invovled in the lore collecting with psychometry, she's still too much of a squishy normal for that. (Though she might be fun for someone to bounce that off of)

My gen plans this month for her are
-Making an attempt at learning to drive. Her SUV is still missing a window and has bullet holes so she'll need help getting that fixed up along with the learning to drive. Then there's possible gravity issues
-Maybe learning something to defend herself with. Not enough got her to be very adventurous but she might have a little look in the buildings if someone 'reliable' seeming is about.
-BUSHES - Mostly intreasted in the green and purple bushes cause Natsuhi is a mess. Get your rage issues, or hear her horrific lack of self esteem ....
-Swarm event changes - She got lucky with the unicorn changes last month so going to give her some bug changes.... Which will probably make her very happy about her normal fox changes.

Definitely cashing in on those free transformations!! So there will also be the Bug CW to factor in to all threads for this month's event. After gaining the Protean Form trait last month, though, I don't have any immediate long-term-gain plans for the Synth.

Meanwhile, willing to experiment with all of the 'glows' - though I have no plans for orange/psychometry, seeing as all the official visions have been claimed. They'll still be exploring for salvage, however, and can be someone There To React if anyone wants.

As for the monsters, V is going to be fighting a lot - especially those Intellect Devourers. Anyone with holy or lightning magic would be a massive help for their own escapades, though!

i am rubbing my hands together like a dirty fly.

— so i have jayce readily available to investigate and loot both the battlegrounds (for metal parts!) and the hospital with a bit more focus on the former since he is getting a vision from there. he might gain some interest in putting it all in one place once they know it's affecting more than one person in the good ol' talis notes! funnily enough jayce has also had to maneuver around zero gravity at one point back in the magic apocalypse so if anyone needs some help with that . . . he'll be your (not very knowing of where they actually are) tour guide.

— very interested in all of those glows for different situations! i'd like to play a bit with blue and green to get jayce out of some of his reservation. he's a very emotional and warm guy and was very open about it before his hole trauma, so sharing his emotions with others and even feeling a range from them will be fun to play with!

— the purple glow gets its own topic because jayce now has a secondary draugr form! meet radioactive rotting deertaur— jayce will be blind and won't have a mouth to speak with when he's like this so telepathy will be of good use to him! he won't be out of control or anything, just himself in a scary body and in some sort of shocked limbo. give my man a break (i give him none).

— dreamsharing hell yeah!! jayce only ever has nightmares as of late. i can give you an interactive twist to the following:

🦌 the ravine: his trauma hole. this is where jayce fell down and broke his leg on his hammer and ended up starving/getting sick/going a little coocoo before crawling out only months later. characters can get stuck in there with him and survive the horrors...... or vore it, if you are so inclined.
🦌 the hexpocalypse: the location of jayce's hole 🧍 albeit with much more exploration range. walk around the magic radiation, run into creepy dolls, the works!! there's a lot of fear of failure, guilt, and the end of the world here.
🦌 various flavors of losing loved ones: ever wanted to be in viktor's shoes? mel?? his mom???? well now you can. or maybe don't. jayce might try and desperately save you...... or off you....... 🙃
🦌 game lore nightmares: remember those from jayce's rune experiments?? well now you too may experience the horrors of sacrifice.
🦌 jayce's first "death": from the game's very first moon warp and this thread, very graphic please mind the warnings. jayce has nightmares about getting his chest flayed out and losing his heart to the herald just being a creature trying his best. enjoy, necromancy was had. karma is powerful. this is what made him undead and it might just not end in the way that it did.......

a note about all dreamshares is that jayce's nightmares are very emotionally charged and the chances of him flaring up and transforming in the dream or becoming hostile is very high. if you want a free pass to getting injured, bitten or straight up vored/killed with no repercussions because it's a dream, you know where to find me 👀 he is also building his travel forge and likely working on solar panels with viktor during downtime, so characters may bring things to him for repairs, customization, invention or trade metal parts with him!!!

Jack is getting off light this time around. I'm gonna throw him some empathy, which is just gonna amplify his empathetic nature, and let him dream about running-and-hiding and being an actual wolf, like not a werewolf, an actual wolf. LMK if you want him thrown into your dream as a regular (talking) wolf. Maybe with six tails, I dunno.

Jolie is getting the whammy this time, because the psychic shit comes from PLANTS and she is a PLANT TALKER so she is going to be talking to a lot of plants and getting a lot of shit layered on her. Plus nightmares. She'll be dreaming about her horrible life before Odd Thomas freed her family, so CW for possession, loss of autonomy, and abuse of pretty much every kind.

Less fraught, she will be exploring the hospital-amalgam with enthusiasm because she likes weird and creepy underground buildings, and getting a weird vision about bloody papers and surgical tools.

Jack will just be trying to find more fabric please and thank you.

This is very loose plotting but I'll happily welcome any interaction or suggestions, or just...jump in people's TLs as come up unless anyone wants to do something specific!

Given Donnie's earlier concerns about gravity not working (after he found out the moon just drops pieces of itself at any given time), this new area just underlines such.

~~Do plants count as shiny things...~~ Someone's going to be very upset that even plants around here are out to get them somehow- botany, his true muse!! What betrayal! -anyway, this boy is absolutely terrible about identifying and responding to emotions, and just at bad with empathy so all this psychic emotional business is going to be awful for him. He already has enough problems with his own feelings, having someone else's rub off on him is going to confuse him so much. And he'll be utterly oblivious if he ends up projecting any emotions on people. Probably will end up playing with each of these effects (purple's a given, he'll be drawn to it for the color alone, and I am a sucker for playing with psychometry instances.)

Dream/nightmare sharing could be interesting! Although they might all slant towards almost losing his brothers :')

Might as well give the empathetic people pleaser even further empathy or projection to mess with her emotions.

Also I'm seriously debating giving her some Nibelheim nightmares (though likely for the purposes of keeping things all ~mysterious~ and to prevent messing with budding CR, Sephiroth's image might be traumatically blacked or blurred out) with hometowns burning down and being near death at the hands of a big sword slash. (Maybe even including some body horror, since her sigil is located across her scar tissue?) Or possibly dealing with the Sector 7 plate falling down. Or getting yeeted into a Mako Reactor and getting nommed by a WEAPON. This girl has been through it.

She also might do a little bit of hospital exploring, largely to loot some medical supplies to help keep people patched up!

Okay so first of all, nightmares.

She has them. She will be sharing them. Lots of them. Her nightmares, your nightmares, brand new nightmares we work out together, she's very ~~traumatized~~ flexible.

She will also be scavenging weapons from the battlefield and trying to scrounge any supplies from the hospital. She will not be experiencing psychometric visions, but she will be around to deal with the aftermath of yours

And, to make that more fun, I'm definitely dosing her to the gills with blue light, green light, and sometimes both. Like the nightmares, I am down to inflict her emotions on you, inflict your emotions on her, or anything in-between. Really just fuck up everybody's day. As a treat. We deserve it.

No Swarm traits, because no bug traits will be more upsetting to her than the "Corpse with detachable head" thing is. But she's definitely gonna have her head start falling off again this month, so she gets to enjoy that!

I am absolutely down for dream sharing with Akechi, but I will note that his dreams deal with a lot of his traumas and guilt. This includes: murder, child abuse, suicide, manipulation... There may be some more positive moments thrown in, but his dreams will be overwhelmingly racked with his guilt, regrets, and fears.

I'm also down to play with the other effects, too! Akechi is a very closed off person, and the number of people he's really opened up to is really just... Serph, Faith, and Viktor to an extent. This would be a good opportunity to pry away the armor surrounding his heart.

As for the event itself, Akechi will be all over both the battleground and the hospital, and I can see him trying to organize a post to share findings, so they can all try to piece together what's going on. He's one of the characters who's been trying to decipher The Lore, alongside Jayce, so I'm happy to do some fun detective work with other characters!

He's getting a reading from the battleground, but that won't stop him from snooping elsewhere.

Lastly, I might give him some Swarm traits. A scorpion tail for sure, which will then carry over to his chimera form. Maybe a few other traits, too. I'll have to mull it over some and look over the Swarm page again.
