Mini Puzzle: John's Notes
Hey, folks! I'm here to offer food for all the detectives, researchers, and nosy puzzle-solvers.
With March's event, characters can find ominous written messages from John's canon. Half the notes form a warning about John's secret evil backstory, and the other half recite a spooky poem in an alien script. All can grant eldritch visions to whoever holds and reads them. Feel free to treat this as an IC background project, an excuse for nerd collaboration, or a way to worsen your character's mental corruption!
This is optional March content that can safely be ignored. To claim a note, just comment below. Thanks!
The Warning
Scattered throughout the grasslands, tied to kites or blowing in the wind, are scraps of notebook paper with writing in cursive English:
The same writer is attempting to translate strange symbols. This is R'lyehian, the language of Cthulhu. Studying and speaking the words can cause headaches, disorientation, and worsening monster psychological symptoms.
Here is the full poem once translated.
Per the event, carrying another character's note causes a "haunted senses" side effect. All John's notes can give glimpses of this vision:
Feel free to use this content without tagging John (I am slow this week due to rl, weeps). But if you'd like to tag into his log, John will be trying to destroy these notes at every opportunity. You can catch him searching through your character's bag!
If shown the warning or the poem, John will scramble to lie and play dumb. The more cornered he feels, the less convincing he'll be. He may lash out (verbally or violently) to avoid the truth: that he's an eldritch king, a former world-ending monster, now fumbling his way through a redemption arc.
Comment below if you'd like to claim a note, offer interactions with other nerds, hunt John down about it, etc. Thanks!

The Warning
Scattered throughout the grasslands, tied to kites or blowing in the wind, are scraps of notebook paper with writing in cursive English:
(1, Akechi) He simply used the portal because it was there – an opportunist who chose to enter our world. It sent a chill up my spine. Then, I saw his eyes in town. I don’t know how, but he found mThe Symbols
(2, unclaimed) He can already easily grasp the minds of those that are weak, but once he finds me, he will weaken the entire town and turn them upon me. His influence is great, and
(3, Faith) I dare not share the name here, but I know this: it is madness he seeks. He intends to drive the world mad, but what is more, it is through this madness in which he
(4, unclaimed) bring to this world – no, the one that came out of the gateway after. You know who I’m talking about. The one who wore yellow.
(5, Jayce) (The last page shows only a sigil. It is the same sign stamped over John's left eye.)

A huge underground temple carved of dark stone. Blood stains the stone altar. The cathedral ceiling has been wrought into a grand, dizzying carved relief: countless tentacles, slime-dripping mouths, writhing goat legs. It is immense and horrific. The alien script can convey an additional vision:
A black stone shoreline blanketed by coiling mist. The lake is a deep amethyst purple and still as glass. The sky above is a dizzying whirl of dark and unfamiliar stars.Next Steps
