Yeah, Akihiko probably brings his message back to the Convoy (because much as he doesn't like it, can't really throw it away) just in time to encounter some wild monsters roaming around. And given the final result from that bear fight, Akihiko might actually be a little more amiable to eating monsters after defeating them.
